Not another tourist checklist

You will not just look at China. For a while, you will become part of it.

We will not skip the famous places. But the strongest memories often happen between them — in places and situations I know from living here.

Robotic arms at a technology exhibition in China
The future, live

Technology other countries are still promising

Chinese EVs, autonomous rides, robots, delivery drones and manufacturing that shows where the world is heading.

Dense modern residential district in Shenzhen
Life beneath the skyline

Underground cities and neighbourhoods of extremes

Millionaire enclaves, enormous underground malls and urban villages where daily life looks completely different.

Friends sharing Chinese hotpot
Food without a stage set

The city’s best hotpot and hidden local restaurants

Places chosen for flavour, not tourist visibility — plus reliable Western restaurants whenever you want a break.

Hong Kong skyline viewed from a café high above the city
Hong Kong differently

A million-dollar view without a million-dollar bill

A family-run café above the city, side streets and places that never make the standard tourist list.

Casino Lisboa illuminated at night in Macau
Macau after dark

Casinos, Venice, Paris and London in one night

Cotai’s mega-resorts are an experience even without gambling — I show you what is worth seeing and what to skip.

Your programme adapts to your group, the weather and what is operating that day. A private trip does not have to follow a printed plan when a better opportunity appears.

One day in the China I know

Not a checklist. A day full of moments you would otherwise miss.

The exact places and timing adapt to your group. This is what a day can feel like when the person beside you knows the city beyond its top search results.

Morning

Breakfast where the menu does not need English

We start in a neighbourhood that moves at its own rhythm. I help you choose what to eat, explain what is on the table and avoid wasting the morning at the wrong metro exit.

Late morning

Robots, drones and autonomous transport in real life

Not a showroom invented for tourists. We follow what is actually operating that day — delivery robots, Chinese EVs, drones and technology already woven into daily life.

Evening

Hotpot worth crossing the city for

I choose the right branch, order for the table and explain the flavours. You enjoy the meal instead of decoding a translation app or settling for the nearest tourist restaurant.

Night

Venice, Paris, London and the casino lights of Macau

We see the resorts that are genuinely spectacular, skip what is not worth your time and leave room for the spontaneous moments that a rigid group tour cannot offer.

Why a local changes the entire trip

You choose the experience. I know how to make it work in a megacity.

Chinese megacities punish the wrong order, the wrong metro exit and hours lost in transit. I plan not only where we go, but when, how and what is genuinely worth skipping.

Quick answers

What people ask most

Do I need a visa?

Often not. Through 31 December 2026, most EU, UK and Canadian passport holders can enter mainland China visa-free for up to 30 days. Eligibility depends on your nationality and can change, so I confirm the current rule for your passport before we finalise the plan. See the preparation guide.

Will English be enough? And can I pay by card?

English works in many hotels but less reliably elsewhere — that is where personal help matters. Direct payments with a foreign physical card work only at some businesses. Alipay and WeChat Pay with an international card are usually the most practical options, with some cash as a backup. See the payment setup guide.

Is China safe for tourists?

Many visitors experience low levels of everyday street crime, but no trip is risk-free. Strict local laws, road traffic and regional restrictions still matter. Read the balanced China safety guide.

Can you help with Canton Fair or sourcing?

Yes. My separate Business in China service covers Canton Fair support, supplier sourcing, factory visits and interpreting across Shenzhen, Guangzhou and southern China.

What does the estimated stay budget mean?

It is a realistic, non-binding estimate per person for my preparation and guiding, a good 4-star hotel, planned local transport, agreed admissions and an ordinary food budget. It is not one package price or the price of a package holiday. International flights, insurance, shopping and personal spending are excluded.

Do I have to find hotels, transport and tickets myself?

No. I prepare a short list of suitable options and direct booking links, explain the sequence and check your confirmations. You make the final choice and pay the hotel, carrier or ticket provider directly, so you see the real supplier price and keep control of the standard.
